Learn new approaches to the oil painting process by emulating historical and contemporary ideas and techniques. This class will begin with a monochromatic master study to examine the fundamentals of value and composition. In subsequent exercises, you will interpret master works using shapes of color and practice techniques including glazing and palette knife textures. Ultimately, you will create your own original work under the influence of selected artists, integrating genres and time periods in the service of self-expression. Conducted on Zoom, this online class will feature live demos and individual guidance. It is accessible for complete beginners as well as those looking to expand their oil painting skillset.
