THE DATES FOR THIS WORKSHOP ARE SATURDAY, MARCH 20 - MONDAY MARCH 22.
In art, everything starts with the ability to draw and render simple shapes, like the egg, the lemon, and the wine bottle. In this introductory class, Gage co-founder Gary Faigin clearly explains how to accurately draw a set of simple household objects, lit by a side-mounted spotlight. Each day Faigin will demonstrate one of the basic tools artists employ in creating accurate and convincing drawings: mapping, rendering, and employing perspective to capture subject matter like books and vases with round tops. Student critiques will proceed in the same manner as a Gage studio class (everyone gets a critique once a session), and the materials list – charcoal and an 18” x 24 “ pad – is simple and inexpensive. An excellent class for a beginner or someone wanting to brush up on their skills.
