Learn to draw colorful realistic animals in colored pencil. In this class, we will cover techniques in understanding color, application, and capturing varied texture from scale to fur. This class expands on skills from Drawing Animals in Graphite and Ink, but is not a prerequisite for the class. Digital mediums can also be used in this class.

  • Below is the list of supplies. Please feel free to bring materials that you are familiar and comfortable with. If you do not have an item, I have provided a product suggestion, but any materials can be utilized. The use of digital media will also be acceptable for this class.
  • Required
  • 1. Graphite pencils (ideally a range of soft and hard)
  • - Brand suggestion: Staedtler Lumograph Graphite Pencils- 4B, 2B, HB, 2H
  • 2. Drawing paper
  • - Brand suggestion: Strathmore Mixed Media or Drawing pads, 9x12
  • 3. Ruler
  • - Suggestion: Translucent preferred
  • 4. White eraser
  • - Brand suggestion: Staedtler Mars plastic
  • 5. Pencil Sharpener
  • 6. Colored Pencils
  • - Brand suggestion: Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils, 12 or 24 - Pack
  • Optional:
  • 7. Tracing paper
  • 8. Masking or painters tape
  • 9. Stiff paper support surface (slightly larger than your paper size) - hardboard, masonite, gatorboard, etc.
