Learn to accurately represent human gesture, proportion, mass, structure, and surface form in three dimensions. This course offers sculpting students a comprehensive introduction to figure sculpture, working from the same pose for the entire class while drawing and painting students improve their dimensional depiction of the human form in space. This is a great way for all students to improve their figural work. Class price includes clay.

  • The academy will provide the clay and armature materials needed for pick up, prior to the first day of class.
  • However, Please bring a pair of wire cutters (needle nose pliers) and a measuring tape the first day of class.
  • • These tools are not required the first day and we will discuss each specific tool during the first session in detail so you know exactly what to purchase for your needs.
  • • Most of the tools below can be found locally at Seattle Pottery Supply, Artist & Craftsman’s Supply, and/or Hardwicks
  • • Needle Nose, Wire Cutting pliers Please have by first day of class

  • • Fettling Knife Stiff type, Don’t get a flexible one
  • •Clay Modeling Tools These tools are strongly recommended.
