The spectacular and enormous Detroit Industry Frescoes were considered by the artist, Diego Rivera, to be his most successful work. Join us for this unique live event, the first of its kind ever offered by the host museum, Detroit Institute of Arts, to find out why. After a short Powerpoint introduction by Gage Artistic Director Gary Faigin, we will join our guide inside the Rivera Court in Detroit, where she will walk us through the installation, commenting on the imagery and the symbolism, a modern take on the assembly line using the ancient technique of true fresco. Participants can ask questions as the tour progresses, as well as afterwards. There is no substitute for seeing the murals in person, but this exclusive Gage tour is the next closest thing.
