If you can draw the figure, you can draw anything. But where do you start? Ryan will guide you through figure drawing basics, from how to begin a figure drawing, to how to use light and shade to bring out the bodily forms that you see. Quick poses will help you depict the figure in action; longer poses will allow you to learn about the details of form, a study enhanced by Ryan’s attention to the skeletal and muscular anatomy that underlies what we see.

  • Vine and Compressed Charcoal- 15 sticks (at least) of Vine Charcoal (medium)
  • 1 Kneaded Eraser (large size)
  • 1 Staedtler Mars White Plastic Eraser
  • 2 (each) Drawing Pencils HB, B, 2B and 4B
  • 1 Drawing Paper Pad (18×24)- preferably Strathmore
  • 1 News Print Pad (18×24)
  • 1 Drawing Board
  • (Optional - Digital Media, drawing tablet, stylus)
