Still life painting offers great opportunity for developing solid painting techniques and refining artistic vision with direct observation. In this weekend workshop, students will first learn from selected master copy, learning about formal elements such as composition, value structure and color arrangement. We will then design our own still life set up and apply the painting concepts we have learned.

  • 2x Canvas 12”x16” Or Canson Canva paper pad
  • Flat or filbert brushes for oil in 4,8/10 and
  • one small round brushes for detail work
  • Oil colors:
  • Cadmium Red
  • Cadmium Yellow
  • Burnt Sienna
  • Ultramarine blue
  • Yellow ochre
  • Titanium white
  • (These colors are for those who would like to work in limitted palatte. Pleae bring whatever color you'll like to work with)
  • Palatte (paper or wooden)
  • Small solvent cup
  • Rags or paper towels
  • Gamsol
  • Please think about what contemporary still life means and bring along setup for class use! :)
