This course introduces students to a concise method for creating an accurate figure sculpture while working from a live model in a sustained pose for a full ten weeks. Gesture, proportion, clay application, and design will be emphasized. Anatomy will also be a prime focus of the course, leaving students with a clear and simple map of the skeletal landmarks of the body which can be applied to figure drawing and painting as well sculpture. Guidance on capturing the individual characteristics and ‘likeness’ of the model will be another feature of the course.
