Explore the vibrancy and brilliance of colored pencils. Learn color theory, mixing color values by layering, the importance of pressure techniques, blending, burnishing, washing with solvent and using watercolor pencils. Exercises include a variety of subjects, floral, skin tones and creating various textures. Color pencil history, brands and papers will be discussed. Demonstrations, reference handouts and photos provided weekly.

    Advanced – Stonehenge legion white 9 x 12

    Colored Pencils: 24 Prismacolor Pencil set

    Or other brand Derwent – Stay away from student grade pencils if possible – they can work but not as well

    Optional: 12 Watercolor pencil set

    Pencil Sharpener: I use Carl Angel-5 retractable, but any will work

    Erasers: Kneaded eraser, white plastic, for Detail: pencil eraser Factus or Tuff stuff, Tombow zero

    Color Lifting: Painter’s tape

    Fixative: Krylon Workable Spray fix

    Dust Brush:

    Drawing pencils 4H 2H or HB
