This 3 hour painting workshop will introduce beginners and more experienced painters alike to the concept of creating a field of beautiful color which becomes the first layer of a finished layered impressionist style painting. Instructor Diane Crago (www.dianecrago.com) will guide us through a technique called flow painting, a combination of analogous colors that produce vibrant and exciting layers of color, introducing us to color theory in the process. Using quick to dry acrylic paints (or colorful media you may already have in your home) we will then learn how to integrate these colors into a concept and create a finished painting which will be a road map into what you find beautiful, and what something beautiful then says about you.

Workshop includes a brief historical discussion of impressionist paint strokes, paint layering and of course an opportunity to interact with each other…just what the Impressionists did when they got together at their Montmartre cafes!

  • We recommend that everyone registered for an in-person program at Gage Academy of Art receives full COVID-19 vaccination. Gage leaves the use of face coverings when indoors at the facility up to each individual as masks are not required.

  • Students can choose to work EITHER in Acrylics or Oils. Pick the appropriate supply list to order. Not necessary to have both.
