Starting with the basic structure of skull, progressing to values studies with planes, proportions, measurement and depiction of facial features. Students will work from cast references: profile three quarter and frontal views of both male and female head. Exercises on skin tone color layering will lead to working from color references. Students have the option to work from their reference photo references.

  • White paper: Any sketch book paper
    Drawing pencils HB - 6 B
    Advanced – Stonehenge legion white 9 x 12 )slight texture) Bristol 300 (smooth)
    Colored Pencils: 24 Prismacolor Pencil or other brand
    – Stay away from student grade pencils if possible – they can work but not as well
    Pencil Sharpener: I use Carl Angel-5 retractable, Prismacolor Scholar hand held is good
    Erasers: Kneaded eraser, white plastic, for Detail: pencil eraser Factus or Tuff stuff
    Color Lifting: Painters tape
