The Sketchbook Habit
Weekend Workshop | This program is completed
The sketchbook is a tool for artists of any medium, as useful and necessary as paintbrushes or clay. Yet many artists find the sketchbook a challenge to maintain. In this class you’ll practice compelling techniques for building a unique and personal sketchbook habit. Steven Reddy, author of Everyday Sketching and Drawing, has published several artbooks compiled from hundreds of sketchbooks filled over several decades. This class explores dozens of inspiring ideas to motivate artists to use the sketchbook as a direct record and expression of concepts and images that can birth larger, more developed artistic projects, or can be viewed as complete artworks on their own.
In addition to any materials you already use, bring a multimedia (or All-Purpose) Sketchbook suitable for several layers of wet media but smooth enough to be drawn on with Uniball Pen; small PORTABLE set of watercolors; two or three watercolor brushes (#4, #6 and #8 or similar); a $10 materials fee (this is NOT the registration fee) for a required kit supplied by the instructor on the first day.
