In this 5-week figure drawing class you will develop your skills in capturing the human form from the live model. With personalized guidance from an experienced instructor, you will learn the fundamental techniques of figure drawing and have the opportunity to practice through short gesture drawings and longer pose drawings. By the end of the course, you will have gained a foundation in figure drawing and improved your ability to capture the essence and details of the human form.

  • We recommend that everyone registered for an in-person program at Gage Academy of Art receives full COVID-19 vaccination. Gage leaves the use of face coverings when indoors at the facility up to each individual as masks are not required.


  • Supports:
    • Drawing board 18” x 24"
    • Strathmore 500 series white charcoal drawing pad 18” x 24"
    • Rough Newsprint 18” x 24”
    Drawing Materials:
    • General’s Charcoal pencils (several HB’s one 2B)
    • Kneaded eraser
    • Plastic eraser
    • Tombow Zero Refillable Round Eraser (optional but VERY useful)
    • Blending Stumps (not the spiral wound ones)
    • Willow Charcoal (Med. Sticks 5-6 mm)
    • Chamois
    • Small Snap knife from hardware store
    • Sandpaper (120 or 150 grit)
    • 2 bull dog clips
    • Wooden skewer (for sighting and measuring)
