Brushes: You can bring in your favorite brushes to work with, but in case you need to purchase some here is what I suggest to start with. In either case you will need both bristle brushes and softer synthetic brushes for this class.
• 1 each of #2, 4, 6, & 8 filbert bristle brushes
• 1 each of #2, 4 & 6 filbert synthetic brushes
• 1 each of #4 or #6 round synthetic brushes*
*A very good round is the #4 Escoda Modernisia
Other Materials:
• Sketch pad and pencil
• Palette (glass or wooden, be sure the wooden palette is sealed)
• 2 trowel shaped palette knifes (Dick Blick style #44 is a good size)
• Absorbent rags (this is important and old t-shirts are great)
• Paper towels
• Refined Linseed oil
• OMS – Odorless Mineral Spirits (Gamblin Gamsol is approved at Gage)
• Brush washer
• 1 very small jar with lid for medium
• Masterson Sta-Wet Palette Seal (to store wet paints)
• Mahl Stick (optional, but very handy)
• *2 Bull dog clips *(if you purchase canvas panels)
• Bring 3 or 4 images to work from. Any animal you wish, with good lighting, clear lights and shadows, not blurry.
