Drawing the French Academic Figure

360 Online Class | This program has been canceled

Open to all levels, this course will cover figure drawing in the French Academic style. Utilizing a combination of the famous "Bargue book," drawing from casts, copying master works, and life models, students will chart a course through both art history and contemporary drawing methods.

Topics will include anatomy, proportion, gesture, light and shadow and materials handling. We will start with simplified anatomy and gesture and gradually work up to complete figures. This course is great for beginners who want a more structured approach to the human figure, and for well seasoned artists who are curious about the French Academic approach.
