Intro to Oil Painting

LOCATION NOTE: This class will be taking place online

Fundamentals of Oil Painting. Thorough explanation of materials and techniques. Focus on both drawing and painting. Beginning with black and white painting to start (often called "Grisaille"), then moving on to color. Students will work from photo references, provided.

No Class: 1/20/25

  • Long handle Round brushes, assorted sizes, synthetic sable.
    Large mason jar or similar.
    Gamsol OMS.
    Linseed oil.
    Canvas paper 12 x 16

    Colors:
    Titanium white.
    Chromatic black.
    Terra Rosa.
    Yellow Ochre. (Further colors will be added later in the semester)

    Palette knife.
    Palette (student's choice)
    Students will need access to a printer
