In this 2-day workshop participants will engage in the process of building a chromatic composition that embeds the figure within a larger context of colored shapes. We will engage in the process of identifying color relationships based on Value, Temperature, and Intensity to create harmonic color mixtures as our primary building blocks
This class is part of Kimberly’s COLOR LAB, a series of weekend workshops with Kimberly Trowbridge, Director of the Modern Color Atelier, offered throughout the academic year.

SUPPLIES:
Oil or Acrylic Painting Materials (instructor will be using oils)
You will want a fully chromatic palette— a version of each color of the rainbow:
Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Violet, Magenta. No earth pigments, only intense hues as our starting place.
Suggested Pigments: (if you do not have these exact pigments do not worry, use whatever hue equivalents you have)
-Titanium White
-Cadmium Red (light or medium)
-Cadmium Orange
-Cadmium Yellow Light
-Phthalo Green
-Phthalo Blue
-Ultramarine Blue
-Dioxazine Violet/Purple
-Quinacridone Magenta
Palette for Mixing Paint
Palette Knife
Painting Medium/Thinner (Gamsol)
Dorland’s Wax Medium (optional)
Assortment of Brushes (Bristle and Smooth)
Arches Oil Paper, 16 x 20”, 1 Sheet (or other painting surface)
