Make Your Comic Book!
Class | Available
Instruction Medium: Multi-media
In this beginner to advanced class, you will create a comic book of any size and in any mediums you prefer. Your collection may include single panel, sequential, abstract, instructional and/or diary-style cartoons and comics. In creating with images and text together, stories can be told in ways that images and text alone cannot. Plus, comics inherently contain 'breaks' between panels wherein the audience/reader participates in time. Whether you have an idea for a character or a story, or have never drawn a cartoon in your life, this class will instruct, support and encourage. Each class begins with a slide show that compliments both the technical exercise and longer assignment of that day. We end with class critiques, and optional homework is assigned. For the last class, each student (if you wish) will bring photocopies of their pages to bind in class and hand out.
Your favorite mediums plus any mediums you wish to try. If using water-based mediums, please bring paper for that purpose. A 2B drawing pencil is good, along with a kneaded eraser. Optional supplies are scissors or blade; ink, brushes, collage accessories (magazines, photos, color paper), color pencils, rubber stamps and pad, patterned paper, digital drawing equipment, stencils, etc.
We often bring supplies to share!
