Instruction Medium: Charcoal
Still life from the garden will be the subject while learning to see and draw with charcoal and erasure. Drawing skills benefit all visual art forms. Absolutely no experience needed.
Class topics will include:
- Creating a composition
- Establishing the brightest and darkest points of the subject
- Defining the light and shadow masses
- Finding the gesture of an object
- Using positive and negative space to your advantage
- The erasure as a drawing tool
- Materials list:
- Willow and compressed charcoal
- Hard and kneaded drawing erasers
- A pad of drawing paper, 18" x 24"
Willow Bader
Willow Bader always knew she was an artist. She was born in WA State and grew up drawing and creating at every opportunity. She studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia where she was generously awarded prizes and grants including the Scheidt Travel scholarship which she used for two months travel in Europe. She currently shows with Cole Gallery in Edmonds WA and teaches at Gage Academy of Art. Her painting studio in Seattle is always open to visitors.
