In consideration of the non-transferable rental of the summer 2025 school year, the on-site studio space renter (hereafter referred to as the Renter) in the Gage Academy of Art facility.
Gage Academy of Art (hereafter referred to as Gage), will provide the following benefits:
• Individual space in Gage Georgetown
• Includes basic studio amenities: easel, taboret, stool. All of the Renter’s basic furnishings are numbered and will be assigned to the Renter at the beginning of their occupancy.
The Renter agrees to instill a tranquil ethos and work ethic for the benefit of all members of the group in the studio.
The Renter also acknowledges that they are required to abide by the following rules in order to participate in the on-site studio rental:
Studio Courtesy and Use
Each Renter will:
• Use headphones when listening to music in studio unless agreed otherwise with studio mates.
• Limit visitors to studio to short visits within building hours.
• Refrain from using a cell phone in or near the studio.
• Abide by all safety procedures posted within the building, including the posted Gage Solvent Policy.
• Dispose of all of solvents, rags and paints according to Gage’s safety rules.
• Pay the cost of replacement for any of assigned studio furnishings, should they be damaged or lost.
• Use studio exclusively for the study and practice of art-making.
• Renter will not conduct instruction to students within their studio space.
• Engage in own work without disturbing colleagues.
• Utilize only own tools for the execution of work.
• Remove personal possessions at the end of the on-site studio rental agreement, per the above.
Please note: if the Renter has not removed all of belongings by the Move-out date shown above, a $25 per day fine will accrue until the student has completely moved out.
• Abide by all safety procedures posted in the building.
Payments
Payment must be paid in-full prior to the move-in date and through this portal. No refunds or prorated amounts will be given.
Rule Violation
In the case of the violation of any of these outlined rules, the Renter accepts that they may be asked to leave the studio space, without refund of fees.
Complaints
Should a complaint be brought against the Renter, arising from inappropriate actions or abuse of the above rules or Code of Conduct, the Renter may discuss the situation with the Director of Programs, whose decision as to the outcome of the dispute shall be final, including any request for the Renter’s removal from the studio space. In case of the Renter’s removal, no refund of fees shall be due and owing by Gage.
Subleasing to another atelier student may be considered & must be taken to Program Director for approval.
CODE OF CONDUCT
Gage Academy of Art is a community of students and professionals, all persons are asked to act in a professional, respectful, courteous and civil manner.
To ensure that Gage is a comfortable, safe, and secure place to engage in artistic pursuits, the following are not permitted on premises:
• Sexual harassment of any nature, including verbal harassment
• Smoking, illegal drug use, and/or possession of weapons
• Theft
• Consuming alcohol
• Cell phone use in the studios or talking loudly on a call phone outside the studio and
classrooms
• Using toxic materials
• Animals other than service dogs
• Unsafe or disruptive behavior
• Threatening others physically or verbally
• Acting unreasonably and interfering with others’ use of the facility
• Damaging Gage equipment or property, including graffiti
• Loitering in the building or on the grounds of Gage
• Photographing models (nude or clothed) without their express permission
Anyone not complying with the Code of Conduct will be asked to leave the Gage premises and may be barred from future access to Gage facilities.
