Over the span of nine sessions, you'll embark on a journey to master the art of portraying the human form on paper. Through our sessions, you'll acquire essential skills for accurately observing and depicting facial proportions and features. We'll explore the intricacies of light and shadow, discovering how charcoal can be wielded to imbue your portraits with depth and realism. Tailored for beginners, this class provides a nurturing space where you can refine your abilities and ignite your imaginative spark.
Supports:
• Drawing board 18” x 24"
• Strathmore 500 series white charcoal drawing pad 18” x 24)
• Rough Newsprint 18” x 24” (to pad your drawing paper, and for gestures)
Drawing Materials:
• Kneaded eraser
• White pencil eraser
• General’s Charcoal pencils (several HB’s one 2B)
• Blending Stumps (not the spiral wound ones)
• Willow Charcoal (Med. Sticks 5-6 mm)
• Chamois
• Small Snap knife from hardware store
• Sandpaper (one piece of 150 sandpaper is all you’ll need)
• 2 bull dog clips
• Wooden skewer (for sighting and measuring)
• Tombow Zero Refillable Round Eraser
