Class | Registration opens 7/14/2025 12:00 AM PDT
Instruction Media: Charcoal and Graphite
This is a great class for beginners as well as more advanced students. In this 10 week class we will review observational drawing techniques as they apply to the still-life; such as the block-in, comparative measurement and structural techniques in order to create accurate and effective drawings. You will learn to carefully observe the value structure of your image and ways to maintain balance and focus, even with complicated subjects. We will focus our work on developing still-life’s over the course of multiple weeks. Do you tend to hit a wall with your drawings, unsure of how to develop them further? Drawing techniques and examples from art history will show you different strategies for developing your work. Multi-media studies and quick studies throughout the class will keep you fresh, breaking up longer drawings and giving you tools to simplify, loosen up and to see your drawing from multiple perspectives.
