Explore the art of watercolor landscapes! In this 5-week class, practice color mixing and painting techniques in watercolor including blending, washes, wet on wet, and dry brush. Use these techniques to create realistic blended clouds, atmospheric mountains, and textured grass and trees. Learn to draw and paint a realistic landscape from a photo reference and how to build up the layers to achieve a rich, vibrant watercolor effect.
Instruction Medium: Watercolor
- Material Supplies Needed:
6-8 sheets of 9x12” or 11 x 14” Cold Press Watercolor Paper (140Ib): Arches Cold Press or similar
Sketchbook
Graphite Pencils (2H, 2B or similar) and kneaded eraser
Terry cloth rag, sea sponge, or paper towels (heavy)
Water container
Hand-held pencil sharpener
Roll of Blue Tape
Drawing Board or large piece of cardboard (larger that watercolor paper to tape paper down)
Round 10-well palette or similar (with cover so you can save paints if needed)
Round watercolor brushes, #6 and #10 or similar
