Spirituality of the Yellow Brick Road (Day Retreat)

Join us as we spend the day exploring the symbolic meanings behind this beloved childhood tale. We will be paying particular attention to the character of Toto and the season of Advent. Participants will work on their own yellow brick road journey as well as spending time in personal prayer.
Sr. Elena Almendarez
Sr. Elena Almendarez, CDP, MA has been a Sister of Divine Providence for many years and ministered in the fields of education, parish ministry, and foster care. She has a master's degree in Spirituality from Duquesne University. Sister Elena has served as a staff at La Roche University and Kearns Spirituality Center. This past fall, she became the Executive Director of Mission Advancement and the University’s Chief Mission Officer. She looks forward to hosting programs and creating opportunities for lifelong learners, LRU staff, faculty, and students, and the greater community to connect deeper to LRUs mission.
Father John McKenna
Father John McKenna is the Chaplain for the Sisters of Divine Providence, the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, as well as ministering for the needs of Kearns Spirituality Center. He is a priest of the Diocese of Pittsburgh.
