This course introduces learners to the essentials of digital photography, including understanding camera settings, controlling exposure, and creating compelling compositions. Participants will explore techniques for photographing urban and natural landscapes, wildlife, pets, people, and more. The course includes both hands-on guidance for camera settings and conceptual discussion of topics like lighting and composition. No prior photography experience is required—this course is designed to help participants at all levels improve their skills. By the end of the course, participants should feel confident using their cameras to capture excellent photographs and understand how to apply photography principles in everyday situations.

2 - A mirrorless or DSL camera with manual controls, a lens, a fully charged battery, and a memory card.
*A cell phone camera will be an acceptable alternative for most of the course.
 

Lee Markowitz

Dr. Lee J. Markowitz has over 10 years of experience specializing in landscape, wildlife, and pet photography. His work has been featured in Ohio Magazine and used by La Roche University’s Marketing and Media Department, as well as by tourism organizations across Pennsylvania and Ohio. As an Associate Professor and Chair of the Psychology Department at La Roche, he combines a passion for teaching with an appreciation for the art and science of photography.
