Although it has been said that watercolor is the hardest medium of painting to grasp, it is also the most rewarding. The use of water in combination with pigment is unpredictable and by it’s very nature loose. Mistakes can be unforgiving. But with the knowledge of techniques, and a bit of patience, watercolor is a beautiful, light and amazing medium. In this 5 week session, you will be introduced to the materials and basic techniques for watercolor. We will discuss basic color theory and mixing, focus on edges and layering to build depth. We will explore light, shadow, and value and combine everything in a final project. You will leave this class with a new appreciation of this singular artistic medium and with the tools to apply to your own masterpieces.
