Instructor Mark Macedonia will guide the students through an exploration of the compelling history of human activity in South Africa, from African migration through European colonization, and eventually independence. The students will explore and understand the cultural and history of South Africa's indigenous peoples, as well as how the cultures of The Netherlands and Great Britain are exported to that area of the world as a result of historical events.  The arrival of the Europeans will result in a number of armed conflicts constantly shifting the balance of power, and will weave a complex tapestry of human culture that will have forever transform this area of the world.
