Trafficking and Trans-National Crimes

Lifelong Learning | Registration opens 5/1/2025 9:00 AM EDT

This course will provide students with highlights of transnational crimes and criminal activities that cross national borders, including human trafficking, the Sinaloa Drug Cartel, human smuggling, wildlife trafficking, financial frauds, and tariff evasion. It examines the nature, potential causes, the regional and global impact of these crimes, as well as responses to them. 

 

Michael Opferman

Michael Opferman (Opie) has spent his career in federal law enforcement. He focused on immigration, customs, criminal fraud, human smuggling and trafficking, among others. He is currently an adjunct professor for La Roche’s Criminal Justice Department. In his spare time, he teaches Olympic line fencing, chess, and defensive tactics. He is also an amateur photographer.
