Making Numbers Look Pretty: Using Excel, Power BI, and Tableau to Create Charts and Dashboards

The class is designed to provide students with advanced Excel skills and will include Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, Text-to-Columns, the Concatenate function, and financial functions. There will also be a discussion on importing data into Excel and exporting data to applications such as MS Access. Much of the class will be spent creating visuals to include charts and dashboards in Excel, as well as Power BI and Tableau. Finally, there will be previews of “Add-Ins” for Microsoft 365 Excel.


This class will be open to LRU staff and faculty as well.

Mike McKeown

Mike McKeown is a recently retired Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Supervisory Special Agent . He joined the FBI in 1997 and worked the majority of his career on cyber investigations for the FBI.  His cyber work for the FBI included working as a Cyber Assistant Legal Attache in Ukraine and at the European Union’s Europol Center in The Hague, Netherlands.  Following his retirement from the FBI, Mr. McKeown became an Assistant Professor at La Roche University.
