Students attending this workshop will be experimenting with color. They will have the opportunity to try a number of color combinations and to be in an environment where exploration is encouraged. Students will be experimenting with various brushes and ways of applying paint in thick and thin combinations.
Francis will demonstrate oil painting application on board, paper and a variety of other surfaces. He will cover the use of photo reference, drawing from a projected image and under drawing for the painted image. Francis will discuss and demonstrate how to achieve atmospheric perspective. Students will work on thumbnails and small painting compositions before attempting a finished painting. For those students with very little painting experience, this workshop will be fun and an opportunity to try oil painting. For more advanced students, this workshop will be a place to learn and experiment as they further their skills with color and compositional arrangements.
