This workshop will provide the opportunity to deeply study an old master painting (figurative or portrait) and learn from the past. Students will spend time reviewing various processes of the several old masters. Students will do a small color study of the chosen work, develop an accurate drawing to work from, and then create final painting. This experience will provide a better understanding of the painting process, how to draw for an underpainting and explore several different approaches to creating a painting from start to finish. The workshop will also cover the painting process used throughout the 19th century and by illustrators such as Norman Rockwell and Dean Cornwell. Additionally, the course will cover how to apply modern tools to this process and your own work.
