In this class, Annette will guide students through her steps for painting a portrait from a live model in watercolor. Subject discussed will be how to draw a convincing head through observation of facial structure, features and shadow patterns. She will also explain materials, and her techniques for handling color, mixing flesh tones, brushwork, and controlling edges. This class will also cover understanding the water-to-paint ratio, and how to control the medium when painting vertically. Drips will happen, and that is part of watercolor’s charm! There will be demonstrations and plenty of time for students to draw and paint, and individual instruction. Annette’s Constructing the Head on January 21st would be a great addition to this class.
