A monotype is a painting or drawing that has been printed on paper. Because monotypes are done quickly, the application of paint is bold and loose and can be very expressive. This workshop will cover a variety of techniques used in creating monotypes including: additive, subtractive, ghost prints and chine-colle. Using demonstration and guidance, each student will learn how to compose a monotype using all design elements such as line, color, value, edge and texture. This high-energy workshop will afford students with a truly fun experience while acquiring critical skill sets that can be used in any art form moving forward.
