This time-tested curriculum is designed to help students develop a better understanding for the fundamentals of color, composition, value, paint application and atmospheric perspective pertaining to landscape painting. Design discussions will focus on the subjects of emphasis and pattern, with a goal to create more dynamic compositions. Students will also learn a reliable, step-by-step system for creating larger studio works from start to finish, with a working knowledge of color and value.
In addition to any prerequisite studies, this workshop will set as a goal 1-3 completed paintings for the week depending on the size of the canvas. Instruction will include lecture and slide presentation, demonstrations, critiques, and one-on-one time with each student. The principles taught apply universally to a variety of mediums, and though demos will be done in acrylics, all mediums are welcome.
