This five day workshop will center around the portrayal of the human figure, with emphasis on painting the portrait for 2 days, then a half-length or full length figure for the next three. Live demonstrations by the instructor will be given, as well as materials talks and method lectures and personalized individual critiques of work made in class by students. This will take place while the model is posing to insure live feedback and reinforce concepts, as well as help discover the student’s points of strength and specific areas of weakness.
As color will be a central focus throughout the class, students may expect to find a number of rich setups that may include in addition to the live model; drapery, headpieces, makeup, flowers, and possibly stuffed parrots. A lecture about composition will also be given as part of the class and students will find the use, challenge and benefit of adding richness to their compositions, drawing on old master baroque and art nouveau concepts at the same time, as well as Teresa’s own unique sense of style. www.teresaoaxaca.com
