Have you ever been in a museum and wished you had an opportunity to challenge yourself and draw some of the museum’s collection? Here’s a rare opportunity that you would not want to miss! The Western Spirit, Scottsdale’s Museum of the West, named the Best Western Museum in the Nation by True West Magazine is opening its gallery to a few students from The Scottsdale Artists’ School to hone their drawing skills by engaging the museum’s Western art collection. The museum’s collection offers a unique opportunity to do observational drawing from the Masters of the West. With a few drawing materials, students can enjoy 3 hours of drawing in one of the galleries where they can explore drawing techniques from expressive gesture drawing to tips on creating a 3-dimensional drawing with guidance from an instructor. Class begins with a discussion on drawing materials, and then explores positive and negative space, seeing values and edges and tips on using form to draw objects. Students new to drawing or who wish to have an organized approach to drawing should expect their work to improve during the course of this session. www.salinasart.com
