Teacher Judith Spitz has always believed that painting “with the Masters” should be a vital part of every artists training. Towards that end, the student will spend the first day of this two day class, painting from Nicolai Fechin’s Sunflowers. In that capacity, the student will get a more complete understanding of the basis of Great Paintings (value, color, temperature, edges, and of course composition). On the second day of class, the Students will set up their own still life of Sunflowers, keeping in mind the principals they learned “from the Master”. In this way the student and the teacher will take a journey of learning and understanding to make great paintings. Judith will, of course, demonstrate throughout this journey! Because teacher Judith Spitz is an Oil Painter as well as a Pastelist, students of both Mediums are invited to attend. www.judithspitz.com

Spitz, Judith

Several years after college, I began my study and career in art at The Parsons School of Art an Design in New York City. Some years later, life took me to Phoenix, Arizona, a place where peaceful landscapes nourished my soul. I have continued to hone my painting skills in Arizona, studying with such notable teachers as Gregory Pearce, David Leffel, Daniel Gerhartz and John Burton. Teaching art has been a way of communicating my skills and knowledge and provides an opportunity for me to learn as well. My Oil and Pastel paintings have been acquired for private and public collections throughout the United States, and I have won several awards and recognition for my work. I continue to work in my Scottsdale Studio, creating works which are increasingly more reflective of the world's social and economic issues.
