Discover the magic system that ties a painting together with harmonious color, powerful brushwork, and well-designed abstract structural shapes. Direct the viewer from the first mark we place on the canvas with intent using our intellect and intuition. Our class will build upon our knowledge through exercises, demonstrations, enlightening visuals, and master dissections as well as group and individual critiques. Personal photo references and studies will be used to build your finished paintings with insightful orchestration. Create compositions that make real connections with the viewer. Master color contractions, become fluent in the visual language. Paint with purpose unifying points of intention, lines of communication and painting punctuation. Kevin is author of four popular books on painting, a world class plein air painter, mentor, and teacher. His motto is “Painting is simple, but not easy”. Kevin Macpherson
Highly-respected among collectors and fellow artists alike, KEVIN MACPHERSON is past president of Plein Air Painters of America. His painting instruction book, "Fill Your Oil Paintings with Light and Color", is in its ninth printing, including a Chinese language translation. Other books include "Reflections on a Pond" and a new instructional book, "landscape Painting Inside and Out." Winner of numerous awards, Macpherson is the first artist named Master Signature Member of the Oil Painters of America. He began studying at SAS in 1983 and was recipient of SAS' "Best and the Brightest" Purchase Award in 1986.
