Flower painting has always been one of the most widely loved and practiced artforms, now you will have the  opportunity to learn the techniques and methods to create beautiful florals that sing with life. Matt will start with a demonstration each day talking through the techniques required to paint this tricky subject both from life and from photos. The main emphasis of this workshop will be giving you the tools you need to create realistic flowers using loose impressionistic brush work that are filled with light. Matt's method is to simplify first, establishing values and then focusing on colour temperature to lift your flowers from the canvas. Students will have the chance to paint themselves while Matt offers individual guidance and critique on composition, drawing, colour harmony, colour temperature and values.

Matt is an award-winning British artist living and working in Dubai, UAE. He is a life-long painter inspired by the natural world, and the beauty of nature. Matt moved to Dubai in 2005, jumping from one job to another until eventually realizing his true passion, painting was?within reach of a full-time career.? After taking the leap to professional artist Matt quickly established himself?and?gained critical acclaim for his florals and landscapes both?locally and internationally. His work has been featured in multiple publications including Plein air magazine, International Artist magazine, Realism today, Fine art connoisseur, Outdoor painter and more. Matt has also featured on several podcasts including Plein Air podcast, The Art Dealer Diaries and The Artful painter. 

 

Being predominantly?self-taught has enabled Matt to develop a technique that is very unique to him with a particular emphasis on bringing the feel of natural light into his work.? 

 

He has taught and exhibited in the?UAE, USA?and?Ireland and is represented in the USA by Medicine Man gallery, Tucson.
