This exciting five-day oil painting workshop will explore two subjects that many artists struggle to paint confidently, Rocks and Roses. The main emphasis of this multi day workshop will be to give you the tools you need to approach either subject without hesitation so you can create paintings filled with life and light. Students will have the option to study both subjects or focus on one for the full five days, multiple demonstrations will be given on both. Matt's method is to simplify first, establishing values and then focusing on color temperature to create depth and texture that will bring your canvas to life. He will offer individual guidance and critique on composition, drawing, color harmony, color temperature and values. This fun and immersive workshop will consist of demonstrations, discussion and plenty of hands-on painting for all participants. Also included will be a lively discussion of marketing and promotion as an artist in today’s modern world.

Matt Ryder
Matt Ryder is an award-winning British artist living and working in Dubai, UAE. He is a life-long painter inspired by the natural world, and the beauty of nature. Matt moved to Dubai in 2005, jumping from one job to another until eventually realizing that his true passion, painting, was within reach of a full-time career. After taking the leap to professional artist Matt quickly established himself and gained critical acclaim for his landscapes and florals both locally and internationally.
Matt is committed to documenting the beauty of the world, be it land, sea or sky and highlighting the changing landscape that surrounds us through the medium of oil paint. With a true love for the outdoors Matt's paintings often start as small onsite studies, painting plein-air in the deserts and mountains in order to capture true light and color that can be transferred to the studio for larger work. Being predominantly self taught has enabled Matt to develop a technique that is very unique to him with a particular emphasis on bringing the feel of natural light into his work.
