Creating Atmosphere and Light

Workshop | Available

Our sky is an ocean of transmitted light reflections many miles deep wrapping everything in color. Learning to see that atmospheric effect on the landscape and mixing techniques that create luminous colors are what this workshop is focused on. Using relative vs. absolute color, Doug winds through the myriad of knowledge needed for artists to develop their skills for painting beautiful and believable space. Perceiving the color and mixing techniques are the “one-two punch” on your way to mastery. Students will be painting from photos in the studio during this three-day workshop in order to hone skills for working en plein air or in-studio. https://www.diehlfineart.com/

Diehl, Doug
Doug Diehl

Doug began observing nature early in his life; hiking and horseback riding through the fields and hardwood forests of southwest WI. He and his wife Susan now live in Arizona where the broad open space, rich colors and grand vistas of the western landscape has captured his artistic soul. Doug shows in galleries throughout the west including Scottsdale Fine Art in Scottsdale, AZ, Sanders Gallery in Tucson, AZ, the Acosta Strong Gallery in Santa Fe, NM and the Montana Trails Gallery in Bozeman Montana. Doug considers William F Reese, his wife, Susan Diehl and Ron Lukas three of his influential mentors.
