Program Description

Drawing on lessons from his book Oil Painting Essentials, Gregg Kreutz will teach and demonstrate the key factors in getting paintings to come to life. Factors such as how to create drama and depth, how to make the paint dynamic, how to give vibrancy to the light, and other critical issues will be taught through portrait, figure, and still life painting. Kreutz, a celebrated painter and teacher at New York’s Art Students League, believes that a hands-on familiarity with different genres helps painters gain proficiency with whatever subject they choose to paint. He is the author of the classic artist's guide Problem Solving for Oil Painters and his new book Oil Painting Essentials has just come out.
