The Quick Oil Portrait Sketch

local workshop | Available

More than a “start” but less than a “finished” portrait, an oil sketch in this class is an exercise in capturing the essentials of the human head, while at the same time creating a portrait of a recognizable individual. It’s also a way to practice painting oil portraits where, for one reason or another, you have limited time with a live model. Linda will discuss many aspects of oil painting, such as hue, value and chroma, color mixing, planes of the head, composition, drawing, edges and much more. In this class, students will be painting each portrait in oils using live models in roughly
1 ½ hours per model. Students will paint models of various ages and skin tones. This class is for all levels, but good drawing and oil painting skills will certainly be a benefit. www.lindatraceybrandon.com
