Laurel Bushman
Laurel Bushman was born in California and grew up in Oregon in an artistic family. She was surrounded by her family’s drawings and paintings. Her own creativity took many forms, including photography, floral design, textiles, culinary art, and music. Years later she became absorbed in painting. As a self-motivated and committed lifelong learner, Laurel’s self-guided art education has been primarily at Scottsdale Artists' School but also includes classes and workshops in Hood River Oregon, Arizona, and Carmel, California. She has studied with numerous nationally recognized artists. Her educational program has given her a classical foundation from which she continues to build a broad knowledge base. Her application of that knowledge guides her, as she enthusiastically emphasizes her love for movement, rhythm, color, texture, and contrast, utilizing a combination of brush, palette knife, and other mark-making tools. Laurel Bushman’s paintings are filled with her energy and hang throughout the USA and abroad. A born teacher, Laurel gives private and group lessons as well as presentations to art groups. She shows and teaches at Laurel Gallery, 111 3rd St. in historic downtown Hood River, Oregon and teaches workshops at Maryhill Museum of Art and Scottsdale Artists' School.
