Painting Textures in Still Life and Trompe L’oeil
Workshop | Available
Do you struggle with making your paintings look more ‘real’ or life like? Do you wonder how some artists capture their subjects so perfectly it feels like you can reach into the painting and touch every texture? Would you like to master these skills for yourself? In this intensive five-day workshop, students will learn the tools, tips, and techniques they need to unlock the full potential of their paintings and take your textures to the next level with confidence. “Painting Textures in Still Life and Trompe L’Oeil” will develop skill building and problem solving in capturing subjects such as metal, glass, wood, string, paper, and fabric. Instructor Natalie Featherston will demo each step of her painting process from the initial drawing to achieving a brilliant finish with a practical indirect painting approach. Students will get a diagram of her palette and mixing strategy with specific paint colors, as well as a downloadable high-resolution image of a photo reference material to work from. Also included is a list of special texture tools students can make at home and incorporate into their own work. Advanced Beginner or higher recommended. Artists may work from their own compositions with prior approval. www.nataliefeatherston.com
