Infinite Art Workshop: From the Elements of Art to Art's Infinite Possibilities
Workshop | Available
Explore the elements of art through the lens of Art Wheels designed by C.A. Morris. Each wheel offers a 360° array of approaches to a particular aspect of art: texture, edges, form, distortion form, creative POV, etc. Rather than pegging elements of art to an historical timeline, the Art Wheels highlight their timeless nature and the essential place each element holds in a visual language that belongs to all artists, past, present, and future. This three-day workshop is designed to encourage artists to freely play with all the elements of art and to find that our creative possibilities are absolutely endless. www.oldcityhallgallery.com
Chuck A. Morris
Charles Morris studied at St. Louis University where he earned a BFA. Beginning in 1993 through present Morris painted an on-going series of portraits of children in which the child is painted into his or her own artwork, which they create with the portrait in mind. Morris directed and produced multimedia art events in Iowa City at Anonyme Gallery and in New York City at Soho Think Tank Gallery, bringing together artists, musicians, writers and actors to create live interactive installations. In 2005 Morris created a large-scale installation with paintings, illuminated transparencies, text, and music for the Dubuque Museum of Art, with contributions by his wife, artist Rose Frantzen, composer John Frantzen, and writer Joseph Lennon. Morris is Vice-president of the Board for Maquoketa Art Experience, a non-profit supporting artists that come to Maquoketa, IA for short- and long-term residencies, using storefronts as studios/galleries/workshop spaces as we seek to revitalize downtown Maquoketa through the promotion of an art community. He currently exhibits at Old City Hall Gallery in Maquoketa, IA.
