Creative Composition for Landscape Painting

Workshop | Available

Jill will deconstruct composition into the three ‘ingredients’ of shape, value, and color, and show you how you can creatively compose with each of these elements, while using a concept/idea as a driving force behind your choices. If you feel your landscape paintings are constructed using the very literal means of entering the foreground and wandering back through to a focal point, Jill will illustrate how a broader and more modernist approach can expand your vocabulary with design. Within each of these three elements she will show you how can play/manipulate/edit reality to create unity and manage variety throughout your subject matter. Brainstorming and playfulness are very much a part of this course. This workshop is best suited to experienced painters who really wish to push themselves beyond rendering reality to create stronger, concept-driven, more personal work. www.jillcarver.com
