This workshop explores the art of sculpting in relief, focusing on translating form, depth, and motion into a compressed pictorial space. Through demonstrations, guided practice, and individualized feedback, students will develop a narrative or expressive composition while gaining a deeper understanding of spatial compression, visual layering, and the creation of sculptural depth within a shallow plane. Whether working from animals, figures, landscapes, mythology, personal symbolism, or other sources of inspiration, the emphasis will be on using relief sculpture as a storytelling medium. Students may also choose to follow along with the instructor's demonstration project.
