Melinda Cootsona
Melinda Cootsona received her BA in Interior Architecture from the California College of the Arts. After working in the design field for 15 years she moved into the fine art world and now has over 30 years of experience in oil painting. Melinda has taught painting to all levels for over 25 years, from intimate studio classes to workshops across the U.S. and Europe. A pioneer in eCourse instruction since 2012, she's known for her individual feedback and quality critiques, keeping all of her courses in high demand.
Greatly influenced by the Bay Area artistic tradition, Melinda works with both non-representational abstraction and with figurative abstraction. Created with layers of oil paint and cold wax, applied and then scraped away, her paintings reveal figures that fill the canvas in varying poses of contemplation or reflection in abstracted surroundings.
Melinda’s work has been included in exhibitions at the Bakersfield Museum of Art and the Triton Museum in California, The San Francisco Art Market, The Coos Bay Museum of Art in Oregon, and Art Basel Miami, as well as many group and solo shows throughout the U.S.
