William Eaton and Paul Tubig
6:00-7:00 pm | Monday, November 18 | Free to all
One emerging application in the rise of artificial intelligence is thanabots, or A.I. chatbots trained on the data of the deceased for the purpose of consoling the bereaved. This technology raises fascinating and troubling philosophical and ethical questions. Professors William Eaton and Paul Tubig discuss some of these questions.
William Eaton is an associate professor of modern philosophy at Georgia Southern University and a research associate at the Centre for Renaissance and Early Modern Studies at the University of York. His research involves the connections among early modern philosophy, the philosophy of science, and contemporary metaphysics.
Paul Tubig is an assistant professor of philosophy at Georgia Southern University. He works primarily on social and political philosophy, ethics, and the philosophy of disability.
A Moveable Feast is a lecture series presented by Georgia Southern University’s College of Arts and Humanities in various locations in the Savannah area. The Learning Center of SCI is proud to host the November installment. For information on other events of the series, visit www.georgiasouthern.edu/cah/moveable-feast/.
